a walk in the desert~

Arizona has certainly been giving us some weather that's worth bragging about!  I am fortunate to live just a few miles from a beautiful regional park that was opened up just two or three years ago called San Tan Regional.  There are several hiking trails that are shared with horse lovers, bikers and us two-footed types.  I have been taking my dog Ben with me.  It's kind of like walking twin babies through a mall - everyone stops to ask what he is - because he is a beautiful white Great Pyrenees.  He is the best partner - I am always stopping to take photos, and he is so understanding;-)

With the weather so beautiful I've been really having a hard time concentrating on my artwork, but this evening I sat down for a bit of creative time inspired by our beautiful state.
Prickly Cluster
This gourd shard was started by just messing around and doodling with my wood burner.  I strictly burned in values to get more practice with my equipment.

Standing Tall

There are tons of Saguaro cacti throughout the San Tans, and thus the inspiration for this piece.
After burning in my design, I distressed with a bit of ink.

Saguaro Blossom
Finally a little filigree practice and design work around the saguaro blossom.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing the journey with me!
