It has been a while since I have tackled a large piece of work. If you follow my work, you know I like working in small formats. After completing my last entry in my art journal, this image was just begging to be painted in a larger format.
I had taken a workshop several months ago, and we did some random abstract underpaintings for a piece we were going to paint - well, I never did get any further on that painting, stashed it away in my "get back to it someday" file. When looking for a new piece of watercolor paper I ran into it - decided the background might just be interesting to use on this image.
The fun of watercolor is that you never quite know where the painting will take you. The underpainting gave this work a completely different take from my original journal sketch. I enjoyed this journey - now on to the next~
