I live on an acre of dry, dusty desert in a simple little home. There is a wash out in front of our property that is full of vegetation. Many land owners around us have clear cut their property, but we never wanted to do this because there are so many critters that have scurried around in those desert bushes. Through the years we have enjoyed watching rabbits, quail, ground squirrels, road runners, and countless other birds inhabit the wash area. Soon our front will be undergoing a large flood project that will change our view as we now know it. Big equipment will be coming through - laying underground pipes to improve the drainage - yes, this is a needed project, but all that vegetation will be removed.
Today I sat out front and contemplated what it will look like and what effect the change will have on all those critters that call our little area of the world home;-( I enjoyed rough sketching this area of our yard as it will bring back memories of what it was before it all disappeared.
